Estate Liquidation and Cleanouts in Northern Virginia

Sanford & Son Estate Specialists now serves Northern Virginia from our base in Severna Park, Maryland. We handle full-service estate liquidations and whole-house cleanouts for families in Alexandria's Fort Hunt and Mount Vernon neighborhoods, McLean, Lake Barcroft in Falls Church, North Arlington, Kings Park in Springfield, and Great Falls. The owner is on site for every project, and the crew is discreet. Call 443-223-8036 for a free walkthrough, seven days a week, 7am to 7pm.

Why Northern Virginia, and why these neighborhoods

The neighborhoods we focus on share a story. Waynewood, Stratford Landing, Hollin Hills, Chesterbrook Woods, Lake Barcroft, Bellevue Forest, Rock Spring, Country Club Hills and Kings Park were built between the late 1940s and the early 1970s. Many of the families who bought those homes new are still in them, or their children are now deciding what happens next. A house that has been lived in for fifty years is full. Clearing it well takes more than a dumpster.

That is the work we do. We are an estate specialist, not a junk hauler. Items with resale value are sold and credited against the cost of the job. Furniture, books, kitchenware and clothing that charities can use are donated, and you get the receipts. What can be recycled is recycled. Only what is left gets hauled, and the house is handed back broom-clean, ready for a realtor or a new owner.

What we handle in Virginia

• Full-service estate liquidations and estate sales. We inventory, price and sell the contents of the home, then clear what does not sell.

• Whole-house cleanouts. Attic to basement, garage and shed included.

• Hoarding cleanouts. Careful sorting for documents, valuables and keepsakes before anything leaves the house.

• Residential and commercial cleanouts. Condos, townhouses, apartments, offices and medical suites.

• Storage-unit cleanouts. We meet the manager, clear the unit and close it out.

• Donation, recycling and haul-away, with a broom-clean handoff at the end.

How the process works

1. Call or email. Tell us the town, the type of property and the timeline. We book a walkthrough, usually within a few days.

2. Free walkthrough. The owner walks the property with you, or on video if you are out of town, and gives you a written quote for the whole job.

3. Sort and set aside. Before anything moves, we pull the items you want kept, shipped or delivered to family. We photograph as we go.

4. Sell, donate, recycle. Resale items are sold and credited to your invoice. Donations go to charities in the area, with receipts. Recyclables are separated.

5. Haul and hand off. Whatever remains is hauled away. The house is left broom-clean, and you receive photos of every room.

Support for out-of-town families

Many of our Virginia clients live in another state. A parent passes away or moves to assisted living, and the house in McLean or Alexandria has to be dealt with from Denver or Boston. You do not have to make the trip. We photograph every room, walk you through the house on a video call, flag anything that looks personal or valuable, and wait for your decision before it leaves. Keys can come from a realtor, a neighbor or a lockbox. Updates go to your phone, and the final handoff is coordinated with your realtor, attorney or property manager.

Discreet by default

Our crew does not advertise what it is doing. There are no yard signs, nothing is staged at the curb overnight, and we schedule around your neighbors where we can. Estate work is private, and we treat it that way in every neighborhood we serve.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a travel charge for Northern Virginia?
No. Our quote covers the whole job. The drive from Severna Park is about an hour, and it is built into how we schedule.

Do you have an office in Virginia?
No. We are a service-area business and come to you. Walkthroughs and estimates happen at the property.

How long does a whole-house cleanout take?
Most three- and four-bedroom homes take one to three days on site. A liquidation with a sale adds time for pricing and the sale itself. The quote includes a schedule.

Can you work with my realtor or attorney?
Yes. We regularly coordinate keys, timelines and the final handoff with realtors, estate attorneys and property managers.
