Estate Liquidation and Cleanouts in Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac

Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac were built for people who stayed. Edgemoor, Bradley Hills, Westmoreland Hills and Wood Acres in Bethesda, Chevy Chase Village, Section 5 and Martin's Additions, and the Potomac neighborhoods of River Falls, Avenel, Falconhurst and Fox Hills date from the 1920s through the 1970s, and a remarkable number of the original owners are still in those houses. When one of them downsizes or passes away, the contents of a fifty-year household have to be sorted, valued and moved. Sanford & Son Estate Specialists does that work from start to finish, about an hour from our base in Severna Park. Call 443-223-8036 for a free walkthrough.

What makes Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac estates different

Two things. First, the houses are large and the contents are good. A Chevy Chase Village colonial or a Potomac estate often holds real furniture, art, silver, rugs, books and collections that deserve a proper sale, not a dumpster. Second, the families are spread out. Children of Bethesda homeowners are in New York, California and overseas, and they need someone on the ground who will treat the house as carefully as they would.

Our answer to both is the same. The owner is on site for every project. Items with resale value are inventoried and sold, and the proceeds are credited against your invoice. Anything you want kept is set aside first, photographed and packed for shipping if needed. What charities can use is donated, with receipts. What can be recycled is recycled. The remainder is hauled, and the house is handed back broom-clean.

How a Bethesda or Potomac project runs

Walkthrough. The owner walks the property with you in person or on a video call. You get a written quote for the whole job, with a schedule.

Keep list. Before the crew touches anything, we pull the items you have flagged. For families out of town, we photograph every room and send the pictures, then wait.

Liquidation. Furniture, art, decorative items and collections are priced and sold. This is where a Bethesda or Potomac estate usually offsets a meaningful share of the cleanout cost.

Donation and recycling. Usable goods go out early to charities in Montgomery County. Metal, paper, electronics and cardboard are separated.

Haul-away and handoff. The last day is loading and a final sweep. You receive photos of every room, and the keys go wherever you direct.

Working with your realtor, attorney or trustee

Montgomery County estates often involve a trust, an attorney and a listing agent with a date in mind, and the paperwork runs through the Register of Wills in Rockville. We coordinate with all of them. The quote can go to the attorney, keys can come from the agent, and the handoff photos can go to everyone at once. If the house is going on the market, we time the final sweep to the photographer's schedule.

Discretion

Chevy Chase Village, Edgemoor and Potomac's horse-country roads are private places. We run unmarked crews, keep nothing at the curb overnight, and do not post about the houses we work in.

Neighborhoods we serve

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle high-value contents?
Yes. Art, silver, rugs, antiques and collections are inventoried separately. Pieces that warrant specialist sale channels are routed there rather than sold at a house sale.

My parents are still living in the house and downsizing. Can you help?
Yes. We clear what is not going to the new home, sell or donate it, and leave the rest of the house livable until moving day.

Is there a travel charge to Bethesda or Potomac?
No. The quote covers the entire job. Severna Park to Bethesda is about an hour.

Can you clear a condo in downtown Bethesda or Friendship Heights?
Yes. Condos and apartments follow the same process, and we handle building management requirements, elevator reservations and loading-dock scheduling.
